Server Management and Operations Lead

    CVP is seeking a highly talented Server Management and Operations Lead to provide guidance for IT operations planning, design, implementation, and integration of all infrastructure, hardware systems, and software under AMRDEC. Serve as a Technical Task Lead for the configuration and configuration management portion of the program, which provides diverse support for AMRDEC network infrastructure devices.

    Major Areas of Responsibility
    • Lead a team of technical individuals supporting server operations and management for all AMRDEC information and related systems: data input/output devices, surge/Uninterrupted Power System (UPS) devices, computers, servers, cloud services/virtualization, networks, communication devices and other peripheral entities that provide mission support to the organization as it pertains to IT services
    • Determine architecture for installation, replacement, configuration, integration, maintenance, load-balance, and optimization of network servers that control and configure network infrastructure devices
    • Ensure continued interoperability and maintenance of a variety of servers
    • Perform systems management of servers, hosted operating systems, and enterprise software applications used on the AMRDEC Unclassified LAN Infrastructure (AMRULI) – including all lifecycle stages: development, staging, pre-production, production, training, migration and deactivation
    • Configure and optimize Virtual Machine (VM) servers, create virtual desktops, and create VM views
    • Support AMRDEC web servers, including establishing and maintaining proper configuration of the hardware/software; recommending and implementing appropriate upgrades; identifying and resolving interoperability issues; discovering and implementing end user requirements for hosting web-based applications; securing web systems by developing system access and scanning code with HP Fortify; monitoring control and evaluation; maintaining documentation of application and web site changes and change procedures; tracking, and compiling/analyzing web site usage data
    • Provide technical support and maintenance for the computers, networks, AV equipment, telephone systems, VTC/SVTC systems, projectors, and back-end servers used in computer-based training rooms and conference rooms
    • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain server configurations (hardware and software) to ensure their confidentiality, integrity, and availability

    Position Requirements
    • Must be eligible to obtain an Active Secret government Security Clearance
    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 8 years of experience leading server operating system management functions for a team, including experience on large IT operations projects involving multiple complex and inter-related project tasks
    • Thorough experience in Microsoft and Non-Microsoft desktop and server operating system management functions to include those associated with server life cycle management, security and intrusion detection/prevention
    • Experience with installation, troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of server and desktop hardware hosting environments and software virtualization environments for servers and desktops such as Dell blade server architectures, Nutanix, VMWare vSphere, VMWare vCenter, and VMWare Horizon View
    • Familiarity with a server and desktop virtualization environment based upon VMWare, Nutanix, Liquidware Labs, ClearCube, NDS, and Wyse
    • Experience in managing, developing, collecting, and maintaining formal Army and DoD network configuration and Information Assurance (IA) documentation
    • Experience with the DoD RMF processes and DoD IA requirements
    • Well-versed in the latest technologies

    Desired Skills
    • AMRDEC experience – knowledge of AMRDEC information systems and related IT, business operations, technical operations, and risk management
    • Army experience in a Server Lead role
    • Familiarity with automation, data/telecommunications, visual information, programming support, audio/visual, database management and support, data input/output devices, surge/Uninterrupted Power System (UPS) devices, computers, servers, cloud services/virtualization, networks, and communication devices
    • Some technical knowledge to support oversight of the following tasks: network management and telecommunications maintenance, system management, system configuration management, helpdesk/IT services, software application development and management, software testing and systems interoperability and support, virtual system management, hardware systems interoperability and support, VOIP and Audio Visual infrastructure systems, database administration, data storage/control/retention, disaster recovery and critical infrastructure continuity and contingency planning, cyber security, risk management and information assurance
