Solutions Architect

    CVP is seeking a highly talented Solutions Architect to join our growing team.  The professional in this role will be one that is a technical leader yet still has the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and do some coding now and then. This role will be part of several projects and will be a key technical leader in implementing innovative cost effective and technical solutions.

    Major Areas of Responsibility
    • Identify, create, and design approaches that optimize CVP competencies across customer needs, business constraints, and technical realities, and support the development of technical road maps for future implementation
    • Create and drive the technical direction (i.e. technology stack) for the software architecture for various applications to include frameworks, interfaces, reporting, tools, methodologies, etc.
    • Understand and provide input into areas of data science, DevOps, cybersecurity, microservices, and other leading technologies and methodologies   
    • Support the identification, development, and establishment of technical standards and procedures
    • Oversee the design of complex, web-enabled, transaction oriented applications to ensure they follow the agreed upon ‘technology stack’
    • Understand business requirements from customers and project managers and translate them into technical solutions
    • Possess expert testing, debugging, and troubleshooting skills to solve problems across software, databases, and networking environments
    • Ability to mentor/teach less experienced developers through code reviews and other learning tools
    • Excellent writing and presentation skills and the ability to talk details with the developers and present high level overviews to senior management
    • Strong practical Linux systems administration skills in a Cloud or Virtualized environment
    • Conduct Analysis of Alternatives (AOAs) regarding proposed technical solutions
    • Technical solution and Proof of Concept development
    • Support the development of reusable solutions for software intensive work efforts
    • Support infrastructure and software tools needed to enable DevOps, Big Data, and/or Cybersecurity practices in a large-scale environment
    • Learn and analyze new technologies and industry best practices to identify suitability for adoption by the organization
    • Contribute to the design of software and infrastructure to ensure projects meet goals for security, scalability, maintainability, availability, and resiliency
    • Drive a quality and ownership mindset within the team
    Position Requirements
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, System Engineering, or related field
    • Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust government security clearance
    • Minimum of 5 years’ of experience architecting technical solutions
    • Minimum 5 years’ of experience with SQL queries and data preparation
    • Proficient with Oracle, MySQL, SQL, and PostgreSQL
    • Knowledge of design methodology case and analysis tool, ER diagram, data flow analysis relational database design, and documentation standards required to provide object oriented analysis, design and programming
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience supporting continuous integration and deployment automation and methodologies
    • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
    • Experience working with technical developers and the business community
    • Experience Expert knowledge of Linux, particularly Red Hat
    • Expert knowledge of CI/CD principles and technologies
    • Experience with container technology such as Docker
    • Experience utilizing automated testing tools such as Selenium and SauceLabs
    • Experience migrating and securing web-based applications in a cloud environment, particularly AWS
    • Fluent with agile software development best practices such as Sprints and Scrums
    • In-depth knowledge of technology trends and standards, both from business and technical viewpoints
    Desired Skills
    • Testing experience using ETL and BI tools
    • Experience in applying DevOps concepts and practice in any Federal agency
    • Knowledge and experience in applying systems security standards into DevOps practice  (e.g. NIST RMF, HIPAA compliance, FISMA, etc.)
