SOC Engineer

    CVP is seeking a highly talented SOC Engineer to assist with analysis and response to security incidents, and the implementation of new security detection and protection technologies for the agency responsible for Food and Safety.

     
    Major Areas of Responsibility
     
    • Monitor log files and incoming alerts
    • Respond to investigations, and analyze security events to determine appropriate actions
    • Identify security weaknesses
    • Develop, present and implement sound recommendation for remediation
    • Investigate to determine root causes of security issues
    • Document and keep management team informed with information about security posture and events
    • Remote management and troubleshooting of workstations and servers


    Position Requirements
     
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
    • 4 years of active SOC experience or 2 years of federal security experience or one year of USDA security experience is accepted in place of a degree
    • Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust government security clearance
    • 1-3 years of experience investigating and handling security incidents
    • Hands-on experience in a SOC using Blue Coat, Tenable, Nessus, Sourcefire, CISCO Firepower, and Symantec Endpoint Protection
    • Solid understanding of  information security principals
    • Packet capture and analysis experience
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
    • Knowledge of Windows, UNIX/LINIX
    • Knowledge of Networking protocols
    • Fluency with MS Excel


    Desired Skills
     
    • Experience with  Splunk, and WireShark
    • NOC experience
    • CISSP, CEH,  Security+, or an incident response certification
    • Splunk Certification
